ALENSA is a Swiss company active in the areas of formulation licensing, API sourcing and development of e-commerce systems for pharmacies. In 2007, ALENSA launched its first SaaS e-commerce platform which is today known as NextWidgets - the first platform in the world to feature transactional widgets for HTML, Facebook as well as for the iPhone. NextWidgets is currently being rolled out in Switzerland, UK, USA, Romania and Serbia with more European countries to follow.

ALENSA also started the HealthBlogs website as a case study in the possibility of using open source social networking software as a means to better connect e-patients with healthcare bloggers. The platform uses a SMS based micropayment system that allows publishers to charge for certain premium content, which is a unique approach within the medical/health blogging field.
