WidgetBucks validates concept behind commerce widgets

by admin on March 2, 2009

One of our favourite tech bloggers, Robert Scoble, recently interviewed Matt Hulett, CEO of WidgetBucks, one of the pioneers in the commerce widget space. Although WidgetBucks is not an eshop-widget implementation, instead focusing on referral/lead generation for sellers, it is nevertheless one of the best performing companies in the wider ‘commerce widgets’ space.

In this very interesting video, we get to hear that WidgetBucks now has more than 26′000 publishers, a footprint of 100 million users, and one of their biggest challenges has been “keeping up with the rate at which they are expanding”. That’s one of those ‘good problems’ to have.

We believe WidgetBucks is a great example of where the publisher monetization market is going and their success validates that commerce widgets are an effective alternative to traditional banner/text advertising. We look forward to testing it out on HealthBlogs.net and will let you know how it works in practice.
